NLSD Unsure How Provincial Budget will Affect Plans

Northern Lights School Division (NLSD) is waiting for the election results to see how the provincial budget will truly impact The Division.

NLSD does have a good idea of how the Budget will affect some areas, such as teacher salaries and grant funding. Nicole Garner, communications officer for NLSD, says The Division was pleased to hear confirmation that the provincial government would follow through “on its agreement to provide teachers with a 2% increase for teachers and a 1% lump payment.” Garner noted that “a few of our grants are just gonna stay the same, but most of our money that we (NLSD) receives is going to be reduced by 3.1%”.

Garner notes that NLSD is waiting to see how The Budget will affect the schools after the election on May 5th.
