Vehicle fire linked to St. Paul B&E

Three people are facing charges following a break and enter and vehicle fire. St. Paul RCMP were responding to an abandoned vehicle on fire around 5:50 a.m. on December 1st, when they heard about a B&E at Northpark Collision the same morning.

Police were able to figure out that the burnt vehicle had been stolen from the auto body shop during the break and enter. Their investigation let them to execute two search warrants at homes in St. Paul Thursday night, and roughly $20,000 worth of stolen property was seized. A gun and other weapons were also found.

38 year old Lawrence Joseph Desjarlais of Spedden, 40 year old Tyler David Grimes of St. Paul, and 30 year old Randy Cardinal of Goodsoil were arrested and charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and mischief over $5,000. Desjarlais and Grimes are also charged with disguise with intent and Cardinal is charged with arson and failing to comply with a court order.

Cardinal was already wanted for possession of stolen property stemming from an incident in Bonnyville. He was charged with an unrelated break and enter to a machine shop in St. Paul reported on November 24th. His additional charges include obstruction, possession of property obtained by crime, fraud, and failing to comply with a court order.
