Cold Lake supports First Nation grant application

Cold Lake City Council has thrown its weight behind a Cold Lake First Nations grant application. The community wants to be part of the third intake of provincial Community and Regional Economic Support program.

It is developing a Tourism Business Opportunity Assessment, aimed at identifying and planning for tourism opportunities in the region. Those include rental cabins and camping, and cultural activities.

“We are excited to see this project come from Cold Lake First Nations – our area is looking for good economic news, and tourism is one area we can grow,” says Mayor Craig Copeland. “Our council is happy to lend the project our support and to find any opportunity to partner on projects that will help foster tourism in this beautiful region.”

Thursday marked the deadline to apply for the matching grant.
