Lac La Biche County picks first sports hall of fame inductees

The new local sports hall of fame in Lac La Biche County has its first seven inductees. Barry Chwedoruk, Maurice Richard, Omer Moghrabi, Rene Bourque, Bonnie McDonald, Rene Schaub and Eugene Lebas will each have a photo and biography displayed.

The hall of fame will be in the Bold Centre, which will also feature some winners on a mural. Those inducted fall into three categories: athlete, builder and team.

Athletes must have lived in the County, while builders have to have been in the region for at least 10 years. Teams have to have been based in the County, be made of of residents, and have won a national, international or world championship.

Up to 10 will be inducted every year going forward.
