The City of Cold Lake is ranked 21st on Maclean’s Magazine’s rankings of Canada’s most dangerous places. It had a Crime Severity Index of 131 last year, which is an increase from the previous list.
The CSI is a Statistics Canada measure of all police-reported crime, which takes into consideration both the volume and seriousness of offences. Cold Lake’s assault, cocaine trafficking, break and enter, and assault rate and vastly higher than the country’s average.
North Battleford, Saskatchewan is considered 2016’s crime capital, while Red Deer is Alberta’s highest ranked city at number five.
