Bonnyville man wanted in major Lloydminster drug bust

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Bonnyville man as part of a drug bust in Lloydminster. Search warrants were executed at two homes in the Border City on Thursday, November 23rd, leading to upwards of 80 charges against 22 people.

Inspector Neill Pearson says the investigation into the illegal sale of drugs in Lloydminster began two weeks ago and involved ALERT and K Division resources. It is still ongoing and more charges are expected.

“The hard work of our officers and municipal employees has significantly impacted the drug trade within our community. As well, we have removed a substantial amount of firearms and recovered $35,000 worth of stolen property. This investigation is a great example of how our detachment and Provincial Crime Reduction Strategies continues to be effective in addressing crime in our community.”

In addition to the stolen goods, the search warrants also turned up guns and drugs. The charges laid include the trafficking of fentanyl, meth, cocaine, heroin and marijuana, as well as possession of stolen property and proceeds of crime, firearms offences, personation, resisting arrest, and failure to comply.
