GOODFISH LAKE MAN FACING 20 CHARGES FOLLOWING ALLEGED ROBBERY WITH A FIREARM

A 30-year-old from Goodfish Lake is facing 20 charges following an alleged robbery with a firearm in St. Paul.

Police responded to a robbery and assault outside of an apartment complex on Saturday and say a male suspect allegedly used a firearm during an assault of a female victim and then robbed another victim of her vehicle at the same location. The victim that was assaulted suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. No one else was injured

Later that night, police responded to a report that the suspect was seen entering into a separate apartment complex in St. Paul. Police evacuated occupants of the complex and secured the area. Police Dog Services along with the Edmonton Emergency Response Team were called to assist with the investigation when the male would not exit an apartment located in the complex.

Early Sunday morning the Emergency Response Team entered the complex and were able to arrest the suspect without incident. A firearm was seized by police and no one else was injured. His charges include robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm among others.

At the time of his arrest, the 30 year old was wanted on eight additional warrants for various offences from 2016-2017. He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on Thursday.
