Daylight Savings Sticking Around in Alberta

Prepare for an extra hour of sleep as we “fall back” this weekend. Daylight savings time comes to an end Sunday at 2:00 a.m. MST.

The proposed Alberta Standard Time Act was voted down Monday despite nearly 2/3 of those surveyed supporting the plan to scrap time-change. The proposal would have meant Alberta and Saskatchewan would be on the same time year-round.

Concern was raised by the NHL over game start times. WestJet also worried about the impact on early morning flights.

The proposal was voted down 46 to six in Monday’s session.
