City is in Good Hands says Craig Copeland

Craig Copeland has taken a leave of absence from his mayor position. With the provincial election on the way, Craig Copeland has stepped down from his position as the mayor of Cold Lake to focus on the campaign which will see him run under the Progressive Conservative ticket as MLA for the Bonnyville-Cold Lake constituency.

Copeland says the city has long known of his plans to run in the election and are well prepared. He says, “the city is going to be in fine hands, we have a strong council, a great CEO and staff and everything will be fine with the city. Business as usual”.

Copeland says Deputy Mayor Vicky Lafabvre  has taken over as acting mayor until the election results are determined on May 5th. Should Copeland win the election the city would then have 90 days to call an election for the vacant mayor seat. Should Copeland not be successful he would resume his position of Mayor of Cold Lake.
