The Municipal District of Bonnyville receives notice of annexation intent

The Municipal District of Bonnyville has received formal notifications from the City of Cold Lake regarding its intent to annex over 20 quarter sections of rural land surrounding the urban municipality.

Reeve Ed Rondeau says the notification of intent is the first step in a lengthy annexation process, which is managed by a provincial body called the Municipal Government Board.

The M.D. will be hosting a public meeting at the Landland Inn Banquet Room in the City of Cold Lake Tuesday, December 17th at 7:00 pm, to discuss the annexation process and hear the views of property owners within the affected area.

The City of Cold Lake will also be setting up a public consultation process for affected landowners.

Rondeau notes the M.D. recognizes the growth issues faced by all municipalities in the region and the need to plan for future demand.
