Natural Gas Smell in Lac La Biche Probably not Serious, But Better Safe Than Sorry

In what is a recurring issue for the County, Lac La Biche says they’re getting a large number complaints of residents smelling natural gas in their homes.

The County says that the complaints came in after making repairs to their  natural gas odourant injection system. The odurant is what makes the otherwise odourless gas smell bad so it doesn’t kill you when it leaks. The smell complaints might possibly be caused by higher than normal levels of odourant now present in the system, and should not be dangerous. However, the County is taking each call seriously to ensure that there are no actual leaks or hazards.

You should still continue to report all gas smell complaints to Lac La Biche County by calling 780-623-7494. Staff will check every affected residence.
