The Bonnyville Curling Club says they’re seeing an increase in the number of young people taking up the sport.
“Junior curling’s really taken off,” says club President Colin Hanusz. “We have forty five kids registered from Community Registration Night showing an interest in it. ”
The club plans to allow students to play in the adult league after Christmas as well to encourage more interest in the sport. Students will pay a discounted thirty five dollar fee to join the league instead of the two hundred fifty that adults pay. Hanusz says the students take curling in school and enjoy it, but don’t have a dedicated youth league of their own.
