MD of Bonnyville Hardship Snow Removal Program

While the snow hasn’t stuck to the ground yet in the Lakeland, it’s only a matter of time before it does. If you live in the MD of Bonnyville and your situation in life makes you unable to shovel your own driveway, the district can plow a path out for you for free.

The service is part of the MD’s Life Hardship Snow Removal Program.  The MD defines a life hardship as:

1) A circumstance or life condition that renders a rural resident(s)
unable to perform snow removal at their place of residence.

2) The snow removal is essential to enable the resident(s) to access a
minimum of one (1) thoroughfare to or from the residence.

3) The essential snow removal outlined in Condition 2 of this definition
is required for the day-to-day living of the resident(s).

If you qualify for the program you’ll have to sign a waiver with the MD yourself. Friends or family members are not allowed to do so unless they have proof of Power of Attorney. The waiver expires on April 30th and has to be resigned every year.

The snowplow will make one path out to your road and only after all the public roads have been cleared up first. The MD’s goal is to get to private properties within 48 hours of getting a request.

For more information please call the MD of Bonnyville Transportation & Utilities Department at 780-826-3951
