Cold Lake RCMP Arrest Four on Identity Theft Charges

Cold Lake RCMP have arrested four people on identity theft charges.

Police were called in shortly after noon on October 2nd to a report of suspicious people hanging around a local hotel. The suspects had been removing suspicious items from a room they were staying at. Further investigation resulted in their arrests and found they had stolen property, documents and equipment used in identity and credit card fraud in their possession.

Among the recovered items were electronic debit/credit card readers, a laptop, a USB communication interface, cell phones, and bags full of financial documents, bills, cheques and personal identity information of over 25 victims. Members also recovered multiple identity cards, birth certificates, SIN cards, credit cards, drivers licences, health cards and company gas cards.

All four individuals were remanded into custody and will appear in Cold Lake Provincial court on Wednesday.

As this matter is now before the courts, there will be no further updates in relation to this investigation.
