Two Charged in Smoky Lake Marijuana Grow-Op Bust

Two Edmonton residents are facing charges after Smoky Lake RCMP executed a search warrant on a suspected marijuana grow-op last week.

Police executed a warrant on a greenhouse at the Smoky Lake Bottle Depot On September 27th  after learning  that suspects were allegedly growing cannabis  and selling to youth in the community.

Upon entry, members located and seized 8 plants, heat lamps, air filtration and exhaust systems. Items consistent with packaging and the sale of controlled substances were also seized from a nearby trailer.

A 38-year-old man and 41-year-old woman have been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a Controlled Substance. Both will appear on November 16th at Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court. Charges are pending against a third person.

As this matter is now before the courts no additional information will be provided. The matter continues to be investigated by Smoky Lake RCMP.
