Chamber Hands Over Candidate Forum To UDI To Avoid Conflict of Interest

The Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce is stepping away from hosting the Municipal All Candidates Forum in October in favor of the Urban Development Institute (UDI), citing a possible conflict of interest
The Chamber has two directors on their board who are running for council. The Chamber felt this would create a perception of bias and approached UDI to take the reigns instead.
Although UDI will run the forum in its entirety, the Chamber has passed on the notes and agendas from previous election forums in order to keep continuity.
The public forum will be held October 4th, beginning at 7pm at the Lakeland Inn Cold Lake.  Although Mayor Craig Copeland has been re-elected without opposition, there’s still a healthy race for council.
