Mayor Gene Sobolewski will be mayor of Bonnyville for at least another four years, having no challengers this election.
However, there is still a healthy race for council according to today’s unofficial list (candidates still have another day to drop out before it’s official,) with nine candidates and only six seats at the table to go around. There will be at least one new face next term, as John  Irwin has not registered to run in the October 16th election.  In addition to incumbents Ray Prevost, Jim Cheverie, Nestor Kunec, Lorna Storoschuk and Rene Van Brabant,  Fire Chief Brian McEvoy, media personality Chad Colbourne, community volunteer Elisa Brosseau  and Dove Centre Director Morris Mickalyk are in the running as well.
