Cold lake Infant’s Death Ruled Homicide

The death of a 16-month-old Cold Lake girl has officially been deemed a homicide after the results of an autopsy conducted last Wednesday

RCMP have released the name of the child as Veronica Poitras. Police say the girl was brought to the hospital by a family member on the evening of August 26th, with the matter brought to police attention shortly after seven. A short time later, Poitras was transported to a hospital in the Edmonton area for treatment, but was taken off life support three days later and pronounced deceased on the 29th.
