Lakeland parents with kids back in school will have fewer fees to deal with this year.
The Alberta government has announced that it is removing fees for textbooks, workbooks, photocopying and printing, and paper. Transportation fees for students residing more than 2.4 kilometres from their designated schools are gone as well. Both Northern Lights and Lakeland Catholic Schools were ahead of the province in this area though, as both had already eliminated bus fees altogether.
The province is also providing funds school boards to help offset the loss in revenue from canelled fees.
