Cold Lake Holding Invictus Games Ceremony August 25th

The City of Cold Lake is making plans for a Flag Ceremony Relay to celebrate the Invictus Games in Toronto. The public is invited to attend on August 25th at the JJ Parr Centre at 9:30 in the morning.

The Invictus Games are an Olympic style athletic competition created by Prince Harry in 2014. Every athlete who competes is a military veteran who has suffered either a physical injury or experienced mental trauma in the line of duty. Canada is one of seventeen countries competing in the event and will be sending a team of ninety athletes to compete in the eleven sports featured in the competition. Private Martine Duval of Cold Lake is one of those ninety and will be in attendance for the event.

The flag for the games passed through Cold Lake a couple months ago, as part of a cross-country tour.
