Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm watch for the Lakeland.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
A cold front moving through Alberta this afternoon will produce thunderstorms along it with the potential for some of these storms to become severe. Thunderstorms will continue along the cold front through the late afternoon and evening hours.
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
