Bonnyville Pro Rodeo Does Better Than Ever in 2017

Another year is in the books for the Bonnyville Pro Rodeo and organizers are calling it yet another successful event.

“It was an absolutely amazing weekend,” says Bonnyville Pro Rodeo and Chuckwagon Association co-chair Tina Michaud. “We couldn’t have asked for better weather, we couldn’t have asked for better attendance, we couldn’t have asked for better sponsors. It was just wonderful.”

While an official attendance figure for the four day event isn’t yet available, Michaud says Saturday gave them an issue they’ve never had to deal with before.

“For the chuckwagon event, [we] ran out of room in the grandstand. We were in the many thousands of people on Saturday night for sure. That was pretty big for us. It was an exciting problem to have.”

Michaud says the show went off without a hitch. There were some concerns on Sunday morning after a bit of rain that the motocross show might not be able to perform. However, crews were able to dry the track up in time and everything went ahead as planned.

John Walters came out on top after four days of racing to win the 2017 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship, with a four day total time of 5:26.20: a full two seconds quicker than second place Vern Nolin.
