Two Charges in Lac La Biche SUV Theft

Lac La Biche RCMP have arrested two people in relation to reports of a stolen SUV.

Police were first tipped off about the SUV down on Thursday, being told it was at a local car wash. However when they tried to stop the driver, they drove right through the bay door to escape. Police decided not to follow, considering it a threat to public safety.

However, RCMP found it again the next day through a call into the detachment. Again the driver tried to flee but this time the cops gave chase. Thanks to the help of the police dog unit, both people in the vehicle were captured and will appear in court on the 31st.

“Property crimes and the risks associated with attempting to stop stolen vehicles are everyone’s concern, and we’re grateful for the close collaboration we enjoy with our neighbouring detachments, and the support received from our community” says Sgt.Steve Genereaux of the Lac La Biche RCMP. “That continuing support and sharing of information is crucial to our success in combatting property crimes.”
