County of St. Paul Working On Clearing Iron Horse Trail Flood

The County of St. Paul is working on clearing a large beaver dam that has been flooding out a section of the Iron Horse Trail east of Range Road 85 for months.

The County  is trying to get permission from a nearby landowner to break open the dam and let the water out. The issue is that there is a fair amount of farmland in the area that staff will have to make sure aren’t put in harms way by the new flow of water. There’s no definitive timeline for when the dam will actually go yet other than “soon”.

For now though, the section of trail is four feet deep and growing. The water is now over the top of ATV tires when they try to pass through. A detour map to get around the flooded area has been provided below:
