Man Dies After Shooting on Fishing Lake Metis Settlement

Elk Point RCMP are investigating after a man was found dead on the Frog Lake First Nations Wednesday night.

Though his body was discovered on Frog Lake, the RCMP say the shooting is believed to have occurred on the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement.  No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing. Members from the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – North have assumed carriage of the file and are being assisted by Elk Point, St. Paul RCMP members and the Forensic Identification Section.

The scene is being processed and witnesses have been identified and are being interviewed. An autopsy has yet to be scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death.

Police believe there is no risk to public safety at this time.
