Air Quality a “Moderate” Risk in Lakeland Today

Smoke from BC continues to flow into Alberta, and even here in the Lakeland – about as far away from BC as the province gets- the effects are being felt.

Air quality monitoring stations in Cold Lake and Bonnyville are reporting a high of four on the air quality health index today, which is considered a “moderate” risk. At that level most people won’t need to make any changes to their daily routine, but those with breathing issues should  consider cancelling any plans that will have them outside and doing strenuous work, such as running or lifting.

Forecasts as high as 8 -indicating a serious risk- are being reported a couple hours southwest in Edmonton. Whether or not smoke that bad will make its way to the Lakeland remains to be seen.
