Cold Lake Penguins Have Lots Planned For Saturday Home Games

The Cold Lake Penguins Rugby Club has some big plans this Saturday at the Energy Centre.

In addition to games versus the Edmonton Pirates with both the men’s and women’s teams, the club is also partnering up with Rugby Alberta to launch a rookie rugby camp.

“It’s going to go over two weeks and we already have forty five kids registered for this event,” says Cold Lake Penguins President Dave Brown. “We’re hoping to get over fifty. There’s still time to register online.

“It’s going to be an introduction for any kids -boys or girls- ages four to twelve. That’s going to allow them to get exposed to the non-contact side of rugby, get an idea of what skills are involved, have some games with it. Rugby Alberta is going to bring some special equipment and stuff to support the event and we’re really happy to share that as part of the youth development incentive within our organization.”

If you want to just watch the games (women at 1, men at 3) the club encourages you to bring a food donation with you as part of the food drive both teams will be involved in.

After the games there will be a special event to recognize a member who has been with the Penguins for twenty five years.
