Cold Lake has more than doubled its housing starts this year compared to the same number in 2016 at this time.
The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) reports twenty three new housing projects in the city so far this year compared to just eleven through the first two quarters of 2016.
The other district in the Lakeland tracked by the CMHC is the MD of Bonnyville, which has been going in the opposite direction. The MD has reported just seven new starts in the district all year thus far, compared to seventeen by this point in 2016.
Province-wide, 2017 is shaping up to be a better year for housing starts than the last. CMHC tracked areas in Alberta are reporting 13,295 new projects thus far compared to 10,442 in 2016.
