New Dock Ready to Go in Lac La Biche

Lac La Biche County has announced that the brand new dock near the statue of David Thompson on the lake is ready to go.

The new 200-foot plastic dock is close to where the wooden Big Dock used to be. The Big Dock was removed several years ago after it fell into disrepair. The demolition was carried out using money received from the federal government. Approximately 150,000 dollars of leftover grant funds were earmarked in the County’s 2017 budget so a new dock could be installed. The new dock has many benefits. Firstly, it has two “fingers” where up to five boats can be accommodated. There are also mooring cleats for more boats along the dock. Secondly, it can be taken apart like building blocks. This will allow county staff to take it apart at the end of every summer and prevent ice damage over the winter.
