Some Hitches in Bonnyville Canada 150 Fireworks

Bonnyville’s fireworks for Canada 150 had a few hitches on Saturday.

Mayor Gene Sobolewski confirmed that the company in charge of the display had bought new modules, only four of which worked as they were supposed to. Sobolewski says the town was reimbursed for the stop and start show.

“I want to personally thank Doreen and her committee for their hard work in organizing the entire event and her diligence in acting quickly to bring the issue to a closure,”  he continued in a Facebook post on the matter. “The day was still phenomenally fun and a fitting tribute to Canada’s 150th anniversary.”

The town’s other celebrations included a parade down main street, Native dancers and a Shawn Desman concert.
