Two Arrested in Bonnyville and Ardmore Robberies

Bonnyville and Cold Lake’s RCMP have made two arrests regarding a pair of crimes in Bonnyville and Ardmore on Tuesday.

The first occurred at 3 AM when the suspects held the driver of a vehicle at gunpoint in an attempt to steal it. The victim drove away from the scene uninjured and police were contacted. The suspects fled the area in a truck.

Another report came in that same morning by Cold Lake RCMP who responded to a break and enter in progress. A truck rammed the front of a business in Ardmore. Several items were stolen and the front of the business was severely damaged.

The suspect vehicle was spotted near Highway 659 by Cold Lake First Nations and tried to get away. A short pursuit ensued before the vehicle stopped on the Elizabeth Metis Settlement. The suspects fled on foot into the woods. Members from Bonnyville, Cold Lake, and St. Paul RCMP Police Dog Services set up containment in the area and were able to arrest two suspects in relation to these offences without incident.

A 42-year-old from Cold Lake First Nations has been charged with 14 Criminal Code offences and three Traffic Safety Act offences. Charges include Flight from police officer, Obstruction of a police officer, Possession of stolen property over $5000.00, Break and enter with intent, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Fail to comply with a Recognizance. He was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 28, 2017 via CCTV.

A 17-year-old female youth has also been charged with nine Criminal Code offences. Charges include Flight from police officer, Obstruction of a police officer, Possession of stolen property over $5000.00, Break and enter with intent, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 28, 2017 via CCTV.

Bonnyville RCMP along with Cold Lake General Investigation Section continue investigating both incidents.
