Cold Lake Woman To Represent Canada at Invictus Games

An Air Force Private from Cold Lake will be representing Canada at the Invictus Games in Toronto this September.

The Invictus Games are an Olympic style athletic competition created by Prince Harry in 2014. Every athlete who competes is a military veteran who has suffered either a physical injury or experienced mental trauma  in the line of duty. Canada is one of seventeen countries competing in the event and will be sending a team of ninety athletes to compete in the eleven sports featured in the competition. This year’s event will be held in Toronto from September 23rd to 30th.

Royal Canadian Air Force Private Martine Duval from Cold Lake will be competing in golf for Canada. She credits her opportunity with getting her back to the gym and re-discovering a positive attitude. This is the first time golf has been included in the games.
