Friendship Centre BBQ Goes Well Despite Downpour

The Bonnyville Native Friendship Centre’s Fundraising Barbecue went well despite a torrential downpour dampening things a bit.

Executive Director Lauri Fitzpatrick says they made about 120 bannock buns for the burgers they cooked up. They were going to make more, but once they saw the rain, decided to prepare for a more modest crowd. Fortunately though they were able to sell all 120 they made even with mother nature not cooperating. All the funds raised go towards the Friendship Centre’s food bank.

The centre also has plans to make the fundraiser a more regular event, doing at least one barbecue a month throughout the summer. We’ll keep you posted when the next one is announced.
