Tuesday, June 6 – Family Space Night – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bold Center

You won’t need to be an astronaut to be among the stars at Family Space Night, taking place at the Bold Center. Alberta Parks will have a “sky dome” set up to teach kids and families about the night sky, and kids will have the opportunity to build and test their own rockets.

Wednesday, June 7 – Community Organics Recycling Enhancent (CORE) Workshop – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McArthur Place

Community members interested in backyard composting are encouraged to attend this free workshop in the McArthur Room at McArthur Place. Composting keeps organic waste out of landfills. Participants will receive a free composting gift.

Thursday, June 8 – Family Space Movie Night – 7 p.m. at the Bold Center

The whole family is invited to the Bold Center for a showing of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” in keeping with this year’s outer space theme for Environment Week. Free popcorn and drinks will be available. Adult supervision is required.

Saturday, June 10 – Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up and Community Shred-It – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeland Agricom

The Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up is a twice-yearly event that lets residents dispose of items like paint and aerosols in an environmentally friendly manner. There will also be a secure document shredder on-site. This event is taking place in conjunction with the Lac La Biche Agriculture Society’s annual Community Garage Sale. All households that bring items to be disposed of will receive a free collapsible bag.
