NLPS Celebrates Staff at Recognition Evening

The Northern Lights Public Schools Board of Trustees recognized the achievements of its retirees, long serving staff and award winners at its annual Staff Recognition Event held in Glendon on Friday, May 5.

“This is our opportunity to thank all of our staff for the wonderful work they do in our schools and the enormous impact they make in the lives of our students,” said Mandi Skogen. “We have an absolutely amazing staff who go above and beyond to ensure that all of our students get the best education possible and this is our chance to recognize their contributions and accomplishments.”

This year’s event recognized nine staff members who are retiring at the end of this school year, including teachers and support staff.

The Board also recognized staff who have served with the division for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 years. This year the Board recognized 12 staff that have worked in the division for 25 years or longer. Combined they have over 345 years of service with Northern Lights.

The Board also recognized Brittany Norton, its nominee for the Alberta School Boards’ Association’s Edwin Parr Award, and Communications Officer Nicole Garner, who will be receiving the Special Contribution to Public School Education – Media Award from the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta on June 3.
