4 Wing Community Run Coming Up Fast

Just over two weeks until the 4 Wing Community Run gets underway.

“On Saturday, May 27th we’re hosting our 6th annual 4 Wing Community Run,” says Health Promotion Manager for the base Derek Coe. “This is a free event for everyone in the Cold Lake, Bonnyville and entire Lakeland region to come out and have a good time. We’re hosting a five kilometre run/walk, 10 kilometre run as well as a half-marathon.”

There will be kids activities at the red rink while the run is on and afterwards will feature an awards presentation and free lunch to all the participants. The event usually attracts between 600 to 750 participants.

“It really is a fun, relaxing atmosphere,” Coe says. “A really good event.”

While the run is geared towards family members of all ages, Coe asks people to keep their pets at home.

“It isn’t that we dislike pets. Myself as a dog owner I love running with my dog. This is just more for safety reasons for participants as well as the animals themselves. There’s lots of people on the road at once. We just want what’s best for everybody in terms of safety.”

The half marathon starts at 9, the 10k at 9:30 and the 5k at 10.
