Your experience at Tim Hortons might be drastically different come this spring.
The company that owns both Timmies and Burger King has announced that they plan to introduce an app that will allow you to order from either restaurant without having to speak to a cashier. A release date is expected to be a matter of months away.
The app has been in development since 2015, and since late December has been tested at 25 Tim Hortons in Ontario and 25 Burger Kings in Miami. The move falls in line with general trend of automating customer service that has things like making reservations or buying movie tickets become something you can do from home online.
The Lakeland, like many other parts of Canada is no stranger to long lineups at Tim Hortons in the morning and the company hopes the introduction of the app will allow for much shorter wait times.
