RCMP Report an Increase in Crime in Cold Lake

Cold Lake RCMP is reporting an increase in crime for 2015. The RCMP presented their crime report to city council on July 21st .

The report displays there has been an increase in criminal cases as compared to this time last year. As of the end of June 2014, the Cold Lake detachment had 841 criminal code files. As of end-of-June this year, there have been 983.

Although the numbers have increased, the RCMP has seen less cases for serious crime, which include robbery, sexual assault, assault, and sexual offenses. There are also lower cases for reported break and enters. Areas that have increased include criminal harassment, fraud and uttering threats. Written traffic warnings had the largest increase up 5 hundred and 59 percent.

  • Robbery 6 to 1
  • Sexual Assault 9 to 7
  • Sexual Offenses 3 to 2
  • Assault 112 to 90
  • Break and Enters 26 to 17
  • Drug Enforcement 41 to 36
  • Possession charges 29 to 28

 

Increase of Cases

  • Criminal Harassment 17 to 26
  • Uttering Threats  28 to 30
  • Fraud 27 to 32
  • Other Criminal Code 181 to 343
  • Written Traffic Warnings  56 to 369.
