A Saddle Lake Man Has Been Charged with Second Degree Murder

On May 17th, The St. Paul RCMP arrested and charged a Saddle Lake man for Second Degree Murder. 41 year old, Gordon McGilvery, of Saddle Lake, has been charged with the murder of Creedance Cardinal.

Creedence Cardinal had been reported missing by his mother on May 15th. A subsequent investigation into the disappearance of Cardinal indicated that he was last seen at the residence of McGilvery on the Saddle Lake Cree First Nation early May 14th. That investigation also indicated that he might have been the victim of foul play.

On May 15th, with a warrant The RCMP conducted a search of the house and property of McGilvery and located the remains of Cardinal in a secluded location of the property.  The RCMP then arrested McGilvery and charged him with the 2nd degree murder of Cardinal.

An autopsy of Creedence Cardinal will be performed at the Office of the Medical Examiner in Edmonton early in the week of May 18th, 2015 and the results that can be issued from the autopsy will be released as they become available.
