***PRESS RELEASE FROM THE BONNYVILLE RCMP DETACHMENT***
On May 11th, 2015 at approximately 8:00 PM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a call for service for a possible impaired driverĀ in Kehewin, AB.
The police received several complaints regarding the vehicle before locating the suspect vehicle leaving a driveway.Ā A Bonnyville RCMP Constable attempted to conduct a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle by initiating the police vehicle’s emergency equipment however the suspect vehicle did not stop and a pursuit was entered into.Ā The pursuit ended the when vehicle stopped at a nearby residence.
The driver, a 54 year old resident of Kehewin, was arrested after a short struggle when she tried to pull away from police.Ā Ā Police noted signs of impairment and advised her that she was also under arrest for Impaired Operation ofĀ a Motor Vehicle and was demanded to provide a sample of her breath.Ā Police checks on the female revealed that she was currentlyĀ suspended from drivingĀ due to an impaired driving related conviction which was her 3rd related conviction.
Once back at the detachment the female failed to provide a sample of her breath.Ā The female remains in custody after having her bail denied for the safety and protection of the public facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failing to Comply with a Breath Demand, Flight from Police, Obstructing a Peace Officer and Driving while Disqualified.
The 4 other occupants of the vehicle were intoxicated, arrested without incident and released without charges once sober.
