The City of Cold Lake Recognized for a Commitment to Green Energy

Cold Lake was recognized for its continued commitment to purchase green power through the Alberta Municipal Services Corporation’s (AMSC) Energy Program.

Vicky Lafabvre, Deputy Mayor for Cold Lake explains, “when we do our projects, we try to do so much money with a percentage of it being green.” The City’s commitment, of using 20 per cent of the energy to power municipal facilities and infrastructure from green energy. Deputy Mayor Lafabvre says, “it worked out to a little over $50 000.” That’s similar to taking over 330 cars off of the road for one year, or planting over 40 thousand trees that have grown for 10 years.

The AMSC Energy Program works to help municipalities purchase green energy, which in turn offsets emissions from other sources of power.
