Cold Lake’s Plans for Road Improvements Released

Cold Lake has released it’s plans for road improvements for the 2015 construction season. Councillors for the City met on April 14th and finalize and approved the budget. An extra $206 000, from an unexpected bump in the MSI Grant Funding, was added to The Road Improvement Program’s Budget by City Councillors, bringing the total to $1.7 million.

Cold Lake’s 2015 Road Improvement Program will provide upgrades such as an overlay of new asphalt and, where needed, repairs damage to curbs and sidewalks along the same areas. The city plans on improving:

  • Bruyer Crescent
  • 51 Avenue (from 40 Street to 38 Street)
  • 48 Avenue (from 57 Street to 59 Street)
  • 51 Avenue (from 45 Street to 43 Street)
  • Highway 28 (from 50 Street to 46 Avenue)

Lafabvre notes that Veterens Way and Highway 28 intersection may also get improvements this year. “It’ll just depend how the budget goes,” explains Lafabvre, “sometimes you get things in tenders for less and you can add more.” Saying that the intersection “is a priority if there’s enough money left.”

The City has put the projects out to tenders and will know more when the tendering process is complete.
