A man who shoplifted from the Sobey’s Liquor Store in Cold Lake on the 9th might have gotten away with it… if he didn’t decide to come right back to buy some more.
An employee called the detachment from the downtown location to report a man had tried to walk out with between 80 to 100 dollars in alcohol, some of which was recovered before he could get away. When the police arrived on the scene the suspect fled on foot.
Police were not immediately able to track him down from there, but he later came back to the store. This time he tried to legally purchase what he wanted. The suspect was denied service and left.
Not too long after that, police found him sitting on the sidewalk by the Best Western hotel. Once again he attempted to flee, but he didn’t get too far this time and was apprehended.
The man made 1,500 dollars bail and is scheduled to appear in court on August 23rd.
